LEAKED: Ruger’s new 1911

So I was reading one of my favorite gun blogs this morning, and saw this!  I’ve been hoping that Ruger would release a 1911 for a while now, and it seems that they finally are!  Not sure of the specs, other than the obvious from the pictures (Stainless Slide/Frame, extended beavertail with memory bump, skeleton trigger)

Looks like a nice gun!  Love the looks of it, that’s for sure!  I’m guessing that it will be somewhere in the $900-$1000 range.

Happy 100th Birthday 1911

Photo taken by Oleg Volk

March 29th, 1911, the greatest handgun of all time was born.  John Moses Browning (may he rest in peace) is the father of this beautiful masterpiece.  Although he has 128 patents for other firearms, Browning is most remembered by the 1911.

So today, we remember the 1911, it’s history, and it’s maker.  Happy Centennial 1911!

Leather Holster Causes Negligent Discharge

OK, we all know the four rules of gun safety, and we all know that that guns don’t just go BANG by themselves.  We’ve all been told that a holstered gun was a “safe” gun.  Well, you had better make sure it is!  Check this out!

Not sure of the original source, but I ran across this article about a man that had his Glock 19 fire a round while the gun was in his leather holster (Galco JAK202 Slide Belt Holster).  Apparently, the holster was rather worn, and the leather soft.  This caused the leather to fold, and in this case, enter the trigger guard when he sat down in his car.

Thankfully, he only suffered a minor injury, and nobody else was hurt.
